Groundbreaking Celebrates Construction of New Pasco County Utilities Building

It was a historic groundbreaking for the Pasco County Utilities Administration and Operations Facility on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 19420 Central Boulevard, Land O’Lakes. The building will be the central administration location for the Pasco Utilities System and will be located on the southeast corner of U.S. 41 and Central Boulevard. A number of dignitaries participated in the groundbreaking including representatives from the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), Constitutional Officers, architecture firm Fleischman Garcia, contractor Construction Technology Group, Inc., employees from Pasco County Utilities and other County Departments.

“I am excited to see this building become a reality,” said Bruce E. Kennedy, P.E., Assistant County Administrator for Utilities Services Branch. “We have sought for several years to provide a central location for Pasco Utilities customers and I believe this design will benefit both the customer and employees who will work in the building.”

On Feb. 11, 2014 the BOCC awarded the $8,996,900 construction contract to Construction Technology Group, Inc., Plant City, FL. When completed, the two story, 50,000 square foot building will provide a strong customer service focus. A customer service section will be located on the first floor with a five seat curved service counter, covered drive-thru service window and an optional second lane that can be opened in the future. The building will also feature several conference rooms. The theme of the building is consistent with the architectural design and features of the Dade City Courthouse, which also will be consistent with the nearby Connerton Development. The Pasco County Utilities System provides water and sewer services, reclaimed water, solid waste/resource recovery, recycling, hazardous waste, and environmental lab to most ofthe residents residing within Pasco County.
