Family Finds Comfort in the Heart of Strangers by IERNA’s Heating & Cooling

Family Finds Comfort in the Heart of Strangers by IERNA’s Heating & Cooling

Wesley Chapel, FL – Stacey Lane and her family were living the American dream. She was a succeeding business owner and mother of two in a loving marriage. The stresses of owning a business, raising a family and the growing hustle of daily life seemed to be too much to bear. If not for the help of two local business owners and a national corporation, the story of this working mom could have had a very uncomfortable ending.

Stacey and her husband along with two partners decided it was time to follow their entrepreneurial dreams and opened their coffee house in Lutz in mid 2010. Word of their coffee shop quickly spread. Everything was going just as planned.

Over the next year, life's demands became greater than ever. Stacey continued to work their thriving business full-time, with some days requiring a 15-hour shift. This in addition to her catering Business Networking functions and church events, home schooling her two children and supporting their extracurricular activities including team mom and one hour drives each way to their competitive judo classes and football.

The challenges of balancing parenthood, church, marriage and entrepreneurship, proved to be a daunting task. They decided to step away from the business as their partners took over the coffee shop while the Lane's refocused their priorities.

Over the next couple of years, life's commitments tested this loving couple's bond to its end. Stacey and her husband of 18 years had separated. Stacey held close to her church for support and continued to dedicate her life to her children, while always looking to God for strength.

As 2013 neared its end, Stacey had become a single mother with growing financial strains. Her aging home, which she and her boys lived, was in dire need of repair. The heating & cooling system failed and there just wasn't any money in her tight budget to allow for repairs. With temperatures still ranging in the high 80s, it was uncomfortable to say the least. When their church heard of her situation, one family offered to lend the struggling family a portable A/C system, giving Stacey and the boys some much needed, but temporary relief.

Stacey contacted IERNA's Heating & Cooling; a reputable Lutz based HVAC with strong ties to the community. A service advisor was dispatched to her home and presented her with the news she had feared. "The news was devastating!" exclaimed Stacey. Her aging system needed major repairs and it would cost in excess of $2,000 to get the a/c system repaired and operational again. She reluctantly declined the repair and turned once again to prayer.

The holidays and cold nights quickly approached, leaving Stacey with a chill in her home and a heavy heart. Overnight temperatures plummeted into the 30's forcing the mother and two boys to resort to using extra blankets and layers of clothing in order to bear the overnight temps. Stacey explained, "It was the absolute worst thing a mom could hear. My oldest son came to me one night and told me it was just too cold for him to sleep. I felt like a failure as a mom. I offered my bed to the boys every night, but refused to take it.”

Soon after, Charlene Ierna, Vice President of IERNA's Heating & Cooling had followed up with Stacey regarding the repair estimate she received. Though she had not personally met Charlene yet, she knew of her. "Charlene is very popular within our community and very recognizable for her outreach. She contacted me on Facebook. I'm sure at first, it was to conjure up my business...but it became apparent that she was very sympathetic to my situation." expressed Stacey. The two discussed the family’s situation and Charlene assured Stacey that she would work with her and try to come up with a viable. "I could truly detect a sense of compassion in her words. All I could do is once again pray.” said Stacey

Shortly after Lane & Ierna met, Charlene contacted Stacey and setup another in person meeting. Charlene began to explain that she had personally contacted Dawn Pennachiette of Carrier® Enterprises (CE). CE is the parent company of Bryant Heating & Cooling systems of which IERNA's is a Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer. As the executives at Carrier learned about Ms. Lane's story, It was decided that the Lane family would be the recipient of a top of the line Bryant® Evolutionâ„¢ heating & cooling system donated by CE. Charlene continued to add that she and husband Ron Ierna, president of IERNA's, had agreed to donate all additional materials and the labor to have the new system professionally installed, at no cost. Additionally, Dave Wincott, of SouthEastern Equipment Recycling, a personal friend and vendor of IERNA's would donate refrigerant, the lifeblood of an HVAC system. This was a system and installation worth over $13,000 dollars. "I just could not believe this was happening. I was absolutely overwhelmed." Tears flooded her eyes and streamed down her face as Charlene continued with this wonderful news. Stacey continued, "I could see the happiness and compassion in Charlene’s eyes as they too filled with tears of joy. She was my angel in disguise!” wept Stacey.

Stacey and her children had once again found comfort and their faith in God and community reinforced. The cold nights that followed were stifled by a home filled with warmth and love made possible by those who were once strangers, bearing enormous hearts. "I am so grateful to Ron & Charlene Ierna, the amazing team of installers from IERNA's, Mr. Wincott for his generous donation and Dawn Pennachiette and all the spectacular people at Bryant & Carrier Enterprise for our wonderful new Bryant system. We are so comfortable in our home now! I cannot thank them enough. I think the craziest thing about it all was, after I experienced so much generosity and love, and overwhelmed by the giving spirit we received, I continued to be blessed as I received my electric bill, which has dropped significantly compared to the year before. This truly has been an entirely overwhelming experience.” said Stacey.
