SunWest Park 4th of July Opening Huge Success - Now Open Daily from Noon until 9 pm

SunWest Park 4th of July Opening Huge Success - Now Open Daily from Noon until 9 pm....... “SunWest Park has been a dream of Pasco County for several years, we are eager for that dream to come to fruition” said Park operator Patrick Panakos. And that certainly happened when the gates were opened for the first time to the public by Pasco County Commissioner Jack Mariano who personally greeted each visitor till it became evident that the line to get in the Park wasn’t going to die down for many, many hours. The “Sneak Peek” of SunWest Park on July 4th was a very important marker for everyone involved to hit. Would the residents of Pasco and neighboring Counties come out to play at a location that even the GPS Satellites haven’t located yet? Well it was clear that they would at least give it a chance as the line of cars backed up to US 19 and stayed that way till the 250 car paved lot got filled and then the dirt parking lot filled up with 350 more cars. The Park opened up with limited amenities but no one was complaining.

The $4 million project took an old limerock mine that had completed it’s original purpose and found a new purpose as tons and tons of the finest sand in the State of Florida was trucked in to create a unique beach park surrounding a spring-fed lake.

Families and friends were excited to be the first to experience all the fun, and the unique like kayaks, paddleboards, volleyball, an amazing Aqua Park that kept everybody busy. Kids played on the shore under the watchful eye of their parents and dozens of Lifeguards patrolling the beach. “We have the only Wibit course in the area,” said the park’s general manager, Dusty Stone. The Aqua Park area features a trampoline with a series of connected ramps and towers.

“We are working diligently to get our cable wakeboarding system up and running, and hope to have it ready for the first riders by mid-July” said Panakos. The evening was concluded with a fireworks show sponsored by SunWest Harbourtowne developer Gary Grubbs, to the crowds delight. And then, beginning July 6, the park will open daily, and amenities will be available from noon until 8 p.m. “We’ll keep the gates open until 9 p.m. This allows people to stay and watch the sunset,” he said. “It’s extremely exciting, we’ve got a mile worth of beach and a freshwater lake facing the Florida sunset” said Mariano.
