The Presidential recognition sets you apart from your peers. It is a tremendous honor and though you may not seek recognition, your example can deliver a powerful message that encourages others to take action.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes United States citizens and lawfully admitted, permanent residents of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulative hours over the course of a lifetime. For a company or a group to qualify they must have 200 volunteer hours from their employees.

For an individual to qualify for a President's Volunteer Service Award they must complete 100 volunteer hours. Between working on the construction site, volunteering on a Habitat Men Bake planning committee, Habitat Calendar Model duties, the Habitat Men Bake Charity Event and Habitat Home Dedication support, Eric Johnson has met all the qualifications for an individual award.

Stephanie Black, director of development & public relations took a course and was certified to approve volunteers for the President's award about 4 years ago. To date Habitat for Humanity of East & Central Pasco County has awarded about 20 individuals, but this is the first company that has qualified. Recipients receive a letter signed by President Obama, an Award Certificate, and a beautiful medallion.
