15th Annual 9/11 Memorial, in Sims Park, New Port Richey (Photos by Deirdre Oakley)

The people of Pasco County promised WE WILL NEVER FORGET after the 9/11 attacks on our country. The City of New Port Richey along with the 9/11 Committee hosted its 15th Annual 9/11 Memorial. The event was held on Sunday, 9-11, at 5pm in Sims Park. For the 15th Annual event, they planned a special memorial to help our citizens remember and continue healing while building patriotism. They work to continue to unite our communities and strengthen our commitment to stand strong against terrorism.

Shallyah Fearing, the third runner up from The Voice, sang the National Anthem and the US Coast Guard provided a Fly by to start our program. The guest speakers were Sheriff Chris Nocco and Brian Anderson (CEO Veteran Alternative).

People brought their own chairs and a flower. Being the 15th anniversary of this horrific event in our history, they lay flowers at a wreath as part of the program to remember all those who died that day in New York, Pennsylvania and the Pentagon.

It is through the commitment of various levels of government, local businesses and determined citizens that this event continues to grow and improve each year. Through donations and volunteers, they are able to provide one of the best memorials.
