About Congressman Gus Bilirakis:

As Congressman for Florida’s 12th Congressional District, I represent all of Pasco and northern parts of Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. I was first elected to Congress on November 7, 2006, and am currently serving my fourth term in the United States House of Representatives.

Prior to being elected to Congress, I was elected to four terms as a member of the Florida House of Representatives. During my tenure in Tallahassee (1998-2006), I chaired several prominent panels, including Crime Prevention, Public Safety Appropriations, and the Economic Development, Trade and Banking Committee.

In Congress, I work in a bipartisan manner to control federal spending, make government smaller and smarter, strengthen homeland security, lower taxes, improve education, increase access to quality health care, protect veterans’ benefits, and ensure the long-term viability of Social Security and Medicare.

Currently, I serve as a Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Veterans' Affairs Committee. Additionally, I am a member of the Republican Party’s Whip Team and Chair of the Veterans’ Affairs Task Force for the Republican Policy Committee.

I currently reside in Palm Harbor with my wife, Eva, and sons Michael, Teddy, Manuel and Nicholas.
