The Guiding Star Tampa Annual Light of Hope Gala Dinner & Program

On March 30, 2017, the Bethany Center, Lutz, Florida hosted the Guiding Star Tampa’s Annual “Light Of Hope” Benefits Gala. Attended by over 300 community partners, contributors, friends and residents, the Benefit Gala assists Guiding Star Tampa, a rising community presence, a formidable influence for women and families, and a strategic investment to the Hillsborough and Pasco County Communities. The evening, hosted by Mr. Gus Lloyd as the Master of Ceremony was an evening to remember, with words to encourage from Keynote Speakers, Ms. Melissa Ohden, a nationally recognized pro-life public speaker, and words to motivate from Michael Guarino, President of Guarino Healthcare Management.

Guiding Star Tampa is a comprehensive women's healthcare practice that offers medical services, education and ongoing support to women and their children in the Tampa Bay area. “Our mission is to transform women’s healthcare by providing natural, holistic, and life-affirming options,” said Ana Hidalgo Stooks, Executive Director for Guiding Star Tampa, “and we are excited that having transitioned from being a pregnancy center to a women’s healthcare clinic, we will be able to offer comprehensive healthcare to all women, empowering them to make choices about their healthcare throughout their entire life -- from puberty through menopause. Our annual Benefits Gala, and the donations, financial and non-financial we receive for generous Hillsborough and Pasco County community contributors facilitates our privilege to serve these communities.”

Guiding Star Tampa is the first center in the United States to offer natural, holistic, and whole-life medical healthcare, education and support for women. Guiding Star Tampa operates as a non-profit organization that, in 2016, having over 1,714 client visits, averaging 143 client visits per month. “Our programs accomplish three comprehensive wellness objectives for women and their families: medical wellness through maintaining physical health, psychological wellness through education and enrichment, and social wellness through strong, restorative support,” said the staff’s newest addition, Tammara E. Taylor, the OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner for Guiding Star Tampa. “We are a licensed healthcare facility and an approved Medicaid provider,” Taylor continued.

Located in North Hillsborough County, Guiding Star Tampa is a state-of-the-art facility complete with two medical examination rooms, classroom/meeting rooms for education and learning conducted through English and Spanish Mommy Support Groups, and three consulting rooms for one-on-one educational sessions. “We have a family lounge, a child watch area to keep up with “the little ones” during Mommy’s clinic visit,” said Jill Pratt Casciello, the Assistant Executive Director who spearheaded the opening of the medical operations which allowed the Center to offer gynecological and perinatal care to women. Jill continued, “Keeping with our vision to be the best provider of women’s healthcare, we have expanded our services while continuing and maintaining our original interest of caring for, and about first-time mothers, low-income and uninsured mothers, and all women who are seeking helpful guidance to get through the twists and turns that life can sometimes bring our way.
