The Wheelchairs 4 Kids Annual Jail and Bail 2017, Hosted by Wheelchairs 4 Kids, was a fun, interactive fundraiser that benefited Wheelchairs 4 Kids. Steve and Julie Weintraub once again graciously agreed to serve as the honorary chairpersons of the 6th Annual Jail and Bail at the award winning Charley's Steak House in Tampa. Charley's opened for lunch exclusively for our event and donated food and beverages for the "felons". Wheelchairs 4 Kids were truly humbled to have such wonderful supporters.

They recruited high profile Tampa Bay executives and personalities to play a role in the event and were on the "Most Wanted" list. The Jail and Bail consisted of "arresting" prominent citizens in the Tampa Bay area for various charges such as insider trading (retired NFL players using connections to get ahead in Fantasy Football) to impersonating an actor (local business owners/lawyers appearing in commercials). The sillier the crime, the better! Of course, the charges and bail were negotiable. You were even split the bail with a co-conspirator.

First they would turn themselves in at Charley's Steak House (AKA The Big House) where they were photographed, issued prison garb, handcuffed and held in the holding cell with all of the other felons. The prison guards are notorious for sneaking in food and beverages! They were then called to appear before Judge Julie and Judge Steve to answer to their charges. If they did not raise their bail, they were locked up in the jail for one hour. Upon meeting their bail, they were released with great fanfare.

As a jailbird, they received several copies of their "Wanted" poster as well as have a page on the website with their personal wanted poster and charges. Photos were provided by J. David Wright.
