Peace Week 2018 and Coffee with a Cop at Pasco Hernando State College East Campus with Richard Riley

Each year, Pasco Hernando State College pauses to recognize that peace is not simply the absence of war, but a constantly changing and fragile ideology that can be threatened if people are not given the opportunity to express themselves and connect with one another. Despite worldwide volatility and political pressures, we must in our increasingly diverse and technologically advanced society, constantly seek understanding and global perspective. Peace Week is being offered at all five PHSC campuses. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. The sacred sand, filled with prayers, mantras & blessings, was swept into the center at PHSC and poured into a body of water as a reminder on the truth of change & impermanence. The ritual shows the importance of non-attachment.
