The Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel hosted its 5th annual Duck Derby race on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the F.O.P. Pasco Lodge 29, located at 21735 YMCA Camp Rd, Land O' Lakes, Florida 34639.
The fun-filled family friendly festival had food and drink, live music, a classic car show, bounce houses and games, face painting, a live performance from Mr. Tommy for the little ones, and of course the Duck Races!
Around 2,000 yellow rubber ducks were dumped into the Lake, noodles were tied together to mark the course’s boundaries. A fireman started the duck derby race with a push from a high-pressured fire hose into the water. Attendees were able to adopt a duck(s) to the join the race, and the first ducks that crossed the finish line in the Lake won prizes. The ducks were adopted at prices ranging from $5 for a single duck to $100 for a flock of 25.
Proceeds from the event will benefit scholarships for local students.
