Florida State Legislators came through for Pasco County’s residents in need by donating Five million dollars to Metropolitan Ministries’ Miracles For Pasco program

Florida State Legislators came through for Pasco County’s residents in need by donating Five million dollars to Metropolitan Ministries’ Miracles For Pasco program that collaborates with 65 neighborhood partners to serve families in need throughout Tampa Bay.

Sixty-five thousand people in Pasco County live below the poverty level, just one emergency away from homelessness. And it’s not just a job loss that could push them over the edge. Money is so tight that one day off work to take care of a sick child might mean a single mom can’t pay next month’s utility bill.

In 2015, Metropolitan Ministries expanded their services in Pasco County with 12 transitional housing units for homeless families with children on our Holiday, Fla. campus. Today they have a total of 24 units: 20 family rooms, two singles rooms with three singles each for six total single women, and two apartments that families and singles can transition into after securing employment.

The length of stay depends on individualized goals. It typically ranges from 3 to 12 months. More extended periods of stay happen when education is needed to achieve these goals and self-sufficiency. Miracles for Pasco is a replicable model of our program in Hillsborough County, which has an 87% success rate one year later. Miracles for Pasco will enable the same results in Pasco County.

What We Provide to Residents: 24-hour resident services staff, Three hot meals daily, Case Management, GED and Adult Education (available to residents and the community), Counseling, Financial Wellness, Housing Assistance, Employment Training and After School Programming.

Program Partners: Healing Hands Health Center, Mid Florida Community Services, The Sanctuary Model of Care is based on the knowledge that trauma and chronic stress have a profound and lasting impact on people and the community.

Their program helps individuals explore what they want their life to look like for them and their families. Together, we identify goals to achieve and a plan to overcome any barriers in the way of achieving those goals. Through wraparound services, we ensure families and singles develop skills for a healthy body, mind, and spirit. This helps to ensure long-term self-sufficiency when they leave our campus.
