About Al Hernandez:

HI, MY NAME IS AL HERNANDEZ

You may be asking why I’m running; the answer is relatively simple …

Ultimately, it is all about our children’s fundamental education, the overall well-being of the families in our community, and the hard-working staff of a district who is balancing policy and safety in order to take care of our students and their families. While I can passionately speak to reasons like financial literacy, workforce creation, and my continued advocacy for parents to have the ability to take an active role in their children’s education, most importantly is my drive to see my community full of culture and solid education.

As a Cuban immigrant who arrived at the U.S. as a teenager, I have always been fascinated with education. From early on, I was blessed to have encountered very encouraging teachers that have shaped the person that I am today. I graduated from Miami Senior High School; continued my education by obtaining my Associates in Arts from Miami-Dade Community College; earned a Bachelor of Business Management from Nova Southeastern University; and a Master’s in International Business and Finance from the very same University (Go Sharks!!). With the support of my wonderful wife of 27 years and my family, I was able to successfully manage a full-time career as a healthcare executive while simultaneously studying as a full-time student at night and on weekends.

After obtaining my Masters, I was inspired by the teachers that influenced my life to help other students from similar backgrounds. That is why I began teaching Economics, Marketing, and Business Management as an Adjunct Professor for Florida National University. I am not a stranger to hard work. I am a firm believer that God helped me through each stage of my life for a purpose.

I am a proud product of the public education system. I believe that our children deserve a better future with an education that can foster their dreams. I want to be able to show all students that no matter how humble your beginnings, no matter the adversity, you can make a difference in your life, and in the world around you. I value a family rooted in faith, a strong education, hard work, and a solid moral compass. I am a firm believer in the American Dream and have a powerful desire to make a positive, and lasting difference in the lives of our children, their families, and our school’s staff and educators. These characteristics are what make me the ideal candidate to represent our Pasco School Board.

Please donate to my campaign to achieve our mutual objectives. Every contribution helps to further the vision that together, we can achieve a better future for our schools. Thank you in advance for your support, and I look forward to engaging in the betterment of our community.

Together we can accomplish A Better Community!
