Pasco Sheriff's Office Introduces the Newest Member, K-9 Hondo, at Wesley Chapel Honda

Thursday, Apr 06, 2023 | On Target Page: Wesley Chapel, Law and Order
K-9 Hondo is the newest member to the Pasco’s Sheriff’s Office. He is part of the S.W.A.T. Team, one of the few who specialize in high-risk tasks. Yesterday was his first official day. The purchase and training of this K-9 was made possible due to Wesley Chapel Honda! Congratulations to K-9 Hondo and his handler Deputy Mason.

PSO is excited to announce the newest member of the PSO K-9 unit, K-9 Hondo! K-9 Hondo is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois cross born on March 1, 2021. Hondo recently completed certification for patrol work. K-9 Hondo will also be a member of the SWAT team. Patrol K-9s like Hondo help deputies locate missing people or suspects that have ran from a crime, conduct building and area searches for important evidence and more. These skills help deputies resolve situations quickly, which returns deputies to service faster, where they’re able to continue to take other calls, instead of remaining on one call for a long period of time.

Dep. Alex Mason, who is new to the K-9 unit, is K-9 Hondo’s partner. The funds to purchase, equip and train K9 Hondo were donated by Wesley Chapel Honda, who also selected Hondo’s name. K-9 Hondo and Dep. Mason met with employees at Wesley Chapel Honda on his second day at work. Employees were excited to meet Hondo, and Hondo loved the attention! PSO sincerely appreciates Wesley Chapel Honda for donating the funds for K-9 Hondo.
