Hops for Hope for HPH Hospice at Lake Padgett Estates East Clubhouse

Sunday, Oct 14, 2012 | On Target Page: Land O'Lakes, Land O'Lakes Community Events

The Hops for Hope…a Cure for what Ales You fundraiser supporting HPH Hospice was a fabulous success! I want to thank the volunteers and the 67 attendees that made it happen. There was plenty of good beer to sample, food to taste and raffle prizes to win! T-shirts are still available for $15.

Attendees were treated to samples of more than 25 craft beers. My favorite was the Agave Wheat by Breckinridge Brewery. Smiles Cafe donated the menu of Beer Cheese Soup, Oriental Noodle Salad, Garlic Parmesan Wings, Brat Sliders and Cinnamon Dessert Wedges. All were paired with a different craft brew, specifically selected to enhance the flavor of both the food and the beer.

DJ Jimmy generously donated his time to provide the music. Many local businesses donated prizes including gift certificates to Tijuana Flats, Ukulele's, Texas Roadhouse, Massages by Jonni, Marriott, Woof Fired Pizza and many more. As well as Bangles concert tickets and a VIP experience at the Hard Rock! Many brewers donated beer themed t-shirts and hats which were raffled along with a jar of Thane's BBQ Slobber Sauce, a locally made BBQ sauce. Huntsman Trees donated the two *beer trees* at the clubhouse entrance which were won by Nikki Denzik of Insurance Company and Angie Johnson. Both asked that the trees be donated to LPEE and planted in the park in memory of Penny O'Dea and Taylor Johnson. The prize that garnered the most attention however, was the 2012 Tampa Bay Lightning autographed goalie stick won by Jimmy Zarek!

All fundraisers rely on volunteers and I could not have done this without help. Thank you to Lynn Lanzone, who went above and beyond as always. To Scott and Kathleen Wall for their generous donation of delicious food and the time to serve. To Kathy Zarek for obtaining the door prizes and organizing volunteers. To Jimmy Zarek, Jeff Johnson, Tracy Benson, Jim Auns, Gibby Fletcher, Angie Johnson, Leya Taylor, Jackie Crawley, Kathy Umstead, Sharon Falk, Denise DeRemigio, Adrian Martinez, Kim Cagle, Judy Lundberg, Rosemary, Emily Cunningham, Michaela Cunningham, Jimmy O'Dea and Kyle 'ODea, Thank you for all your support and assistance, I could not have better friends! . You all made this event the success that it is!

The Hospice representatives were impressed with the turnout, the volunteers and the generosity of the whole event. But as an 11 year resident of this neighborhood, none of this surprises me. LPEE rises to the challenge every time.
