“The Health and Wellness Center at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel is committed to helping members of our community achieve long term wellness,” says Diane Colville, Center director. “Far from being just another fitness center, our Center provides a comprehensive array of fitness equipment, classes and wellness programs to help people achieve a healthier and happier lifestyle.” Because of our customized approach, we can meet the needs of anyone from the avid fitness buff to the busy person trying to get and stay fit.

The Center’s integrated programming is based on programs such as the American College of Sports Medicine's “Exercise is Medicine” concept. The Center offers the following:

  • The largest TechnoGym® community health center in North America (the equipment used for training purposes by Olympic athletes)
  • More than 50 classes and wellness programs per week ranging from specialized exercise to diet/nutrition and stress management. Exercise classes include several of the popular Les Mills programs, Pilates, TRX cables and Zumba.
  • Two pools, including a 25-meter lap pool and warm water therapy pool
  • Cycling studio that features “green revolution” technology to capture the energy produced by the 24 exercise bikes to lower the building’s power costs
  • Cushioned running and walking track
  • Customized “wellness key” that tracks a member’s progress toward goals
  • Kids’ Club staffed by a certified elementary teacher
  • Fit Fresh Café with FLAVORS 450® gourmet menu items, a smoothie bar and organic coffees and teas

“All our fitness instructors have at least a bachelor’s degree, most of them in exercise science,” says Colville. Colville herself has a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food service management and a master’s degree in exercise physiology and is certified as an exercise specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine. The two center managers, Dominique Wakefield and Kim Christine, both have graduate degrees in addition to other fitness certifications.
