Lutz 4th of July Parade and Announcement of Guv’na of Lutz

Thursday, Jul 04, 2013 | On Target Page: Land O'Lakes, Lutz, Lutz Community Events, Land O'Lakes Community Events

It was a very special 4th of July Parade in Lutz as folks also celebrated their towns 100th Birthday Flag waving citizens lined the street as scores of floats representing businesses, community organizations and civil servants tosses candy, necklaces and an occasional blast of water from their power shooters. Earlier in the day there was a 5k race and baking contest. Once the parade was complete, a cake contest and cake auction started, followed by parade trophies and the naming Suzin Buzas Carr, the new Honorary Guv’na of Lutz. “ Thanks to your support and that of many businesses and local groups, I am privileged to say that I am the first-ever two-timer Guv'na in the history of the race. What an awesome event for Lutz's 100th year. I hope you know how much I appreciate each and every one of you who helped. Peace.” Said Guv’na Carr.

The Lutz tradition, sponsored by the GFWC Lutz-Land O’ Lakes Woman’s Club, the Lutz Civic Association and the Lutz Volunteer Fire Department, among many others, has been a fixture for longer than the member can recall. The events take place near the Lutz Train Depot and the Lutz Library at 101 Lutz-Lake Fern Road. The parade was staged on Crooked Lane and wound its way down Lutz-Lake Fern Road toward U.S. 41 before turning near the old Methodist Church and going in front of the Lutz Senior Center and Lutz Library and ending at War Memorial Park.
