Land O'Lakes High School Falls to Sunlake High School in Overtime

Sometimes, four quarters isn’t enough.

For a rivalry this big, this personal, of course, overtime was the answer. So, in arguably one of the best games in Pasco County in years, it was the crosstown matchup that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the end.

Sunlake edged Land O’ Lakes 28-21 in overtime, beating the Gators for the third straight year and keeping the Seahawks’ postseason hopes alive.

“Beating the rival is everything,” Sunlake linebacker Ben Wood said. “Land O’ Lakes started talking back in June during 7-on-7 (football) that they would beat us, and coach (Bill Browning) just told us to keep that in our minds. We’ve been waiting a long time for tonight.”
