Florida’s only dual-accredited compounding pharmacy, Trinity Medical Pharmacy, celebrated the opening of its newly expanded, state of the art lab facility on Friday. Leaders, dignitaries and medical professionals from throughout Pasco, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties attended the event, which included a ribbon-cutting and tours of the new 12,000 square foot facility. Since opening a little more than two years ago, Trinity Medical Pharmacy has been trusted by more than 3,000 doctors and nearly 20,000 patients. Trinity currently employs 115 medical professionals. “Our team is on the cutting edge of the pharmaceutical industry,†said Krutika Patel, founder and CEO of Trinity Medical Pharmacy. “This larger, updated facility helps us meet the growing demand for specifically tailored medicines and allows us to continue to help our patients get better and have their lives changed.â€

Cypress Creek Ice and Sports Complex of Wesley Chapel Developer Gordie Zimmermann impressed the crowd that included Pasco County Commissioners Jack Mariano, Kathryn Starkey, Pat Mulieri, Ted Schrader and Henry Wilson along with Florida State Senator Wilton Simpson, Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber President Jeff Novotny, Hockey team members from Wiregrass Ranch High School, Mitchell High School and representatives from the University of South Florida whose Hockey team is thinking about playing there in future. The crowd was electric with excitement as TV cameras from all of our regional media outlets trained their lenses on the unveiling of the design for Florida’s largest ice skating facility and the announcement of plans for a 120 room hotel adjacent to the ice rinks. Pasco County Commission Chairman Jack Mariano said the facility will provide recreational ice for local skaters and will attract competitors from all over the world. “Two rinks would have been great. Three rinks would have been phenomenal,†said Mariano. “But with four rinks and everything else you’re putting in here, everybody in the world is going to want to come here to play.â€

Congressman Gus Bilirakis Hosts Annual Veterans Fair
On Saturday, May 17, Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) hosted his Annual Veterans Resource Fair, which provided important information and services for Veterans and their families in the 12th Congressional District. “Veterans have given so much to our country, and it is only right that we give back,†Bilirakis said. “I am proud to host our 8th Annual Veterans Resource Fair. This event will be a one stop shop for our Veterans, providing them with access to a variety of available services and resources. These services include, medical care, assistance with their disability claims or education benefits, and employment information.†Following the resource fair, the Congressman invited everyone to join him for a short patriotic program, hosted by Frank Wuco, Commander, USN, (Ret.), which also included a performance by the East Lake High School Band & Chorus. Additionally, Tech Sergeant Brad Clark of the 927th Air Medical Staging Squadron – MacDill Air Force Base, will be singing our National Anthem and God Bless America. The fair will be held at East Lake High School, at 1300 Silver Eagle Drive in Tarpon Springs.

2014 Wesley Chapel, Wiregrass Ranch Relay for Life
The Wesley Chapel, Wiregrass Ranch Relay for Life was a fundraising walk to support the American Cancer Society. Relay is an 18 hour journey starting at 6:00 PM and lasts throughout the night until 12 Noon the next day. It was held at Wiregrass Ranch High School on the Football Field and Track Area in Wesley Chapel. When we walk together, we are BIGGER than cancer! In the fight against cancer, silence is the last thing we need. Your local American Cancer Society Relay For Life event is a great place to take action and make noise. The Relay For Life movement features community and campus events that offer an inspiring opportunity to honor cancer survivors, promote how individuals can reduce their cancer risk, and raise money to help end cancer. Today, with the support of thousands of volunteers, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 400 lives a day. And we won't stop until we finish the fight against cancer!
Rasmussen College kicks off their 1st Annual High School Challenge
Koehler Macklus from J.W. Mitchell High School competed against two other rival High Schools from Pasco County on Thursday night at Rasmussen College during their 1st annual High School Challenge. The Junior beat out the other two Senior opponents during the Final Challenge & took home a $500 school donation along with a $100 Visa gift card. Koehler quickly came back from a 2,400 point deficient in the last round surprising not only his competitors, but the viewing audience as well. In addition, Koehler was also the only player who correctly answered the final challenge question. Rasmussen College hopes to kick off their 2nd annual High School Challenge next Spring by bringing back the returning champion to defeat his title. Congratulations to Koehler & J.W. Mitchell High School on their win over Sunlake High School & Wesley Chapel High School.
