Carly Chambers, of Maniscalco Elementary, and her younger sister Ally Chambers, of Tims Memorial Presbyterian Church Preschool, got their candy from Lutz Church of the Nazarene member Joann Glenn at the church’s Trunk or Treat as their dad Robby Chambers looks on. Hundreds showed up for the safe event. Chris Shepherd Jr., of Land O’ Lakes, brought fiancée Jennifer Markham and daughter Emily Shepherd to the Trunk or Treat held at the Lutz Church of the Nazarene on October 30. Noah Hancock and sister Jade Hancock, of Maniscalco Elementary get their treats from the trunk of Church of the Nazarene member Jerry Richer.

Steinbrenner quarterbacks Curtis Fitch and Logan LaPace combined for 16 completions against Gaither on Thursday. Unfortunately, five went to Gaither defensive back Ed Pastrana.

The senior set a school record with five interceptions, giving Gaither short fields as the Cowboys thumped Steinbrenner 37-7 in a key Class 7A, District 7 game.

Pastrana's dream night started in the second quarter more..

Football action, Freedom High School defeats Steinbrenner High School, 13-6

A wet, torn-up field led to a sloppy game that included seven fumbles and an interception as Steinbrenner beat Freedom 13-6.  "When you're playing like that, in the mud, it just makes it extremely tough," Steinbrenner coach Floyd Graham said.

The Altruism Foundation which is based in Lutz hosted an event on July 23 at the Lutz Nature Park in honor of James David Birk, a longtime Lutz resident who would have celebrated his 23rd birthday on July 22. James celebrated Thanksgiving 2009 with his family by playing Cornhole, a favorite family pastime before leaving Hillsborough River State Park to watch football with a friend.
