Currently 21 veterans a day are committing suicide, whereas, more Gulf War veterans have succumbed to death by suicide than the actual number on the battlefield. With numbers like this The American Legion has become committed to addressing the situation that can no longer be ignored. Post 108 is one post that has made a commitment to be proactive in addressing PTSD.
The American Legion Post 108 of Lutz/Land O' Lakes hosted a discussion about this, and other issues veterans are facing on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 10:00am to 12:00pm, at Harvester United Methodist Church, located at 2432 Collier Pkwy, Land O Lakes. The Keynote Speaker for the discussion was: Congressman Gus Bilirakis of the 12th District, also Lt. Col. Damon Friedman of SOF Missions, a nonprofit group for PTSD gave a perspective of active duty and veteran effects and his organizations impact on PTSD.
