The New Port Richey Rotary Club Salutes Local Veterans (Photos by David Wright)
The New Port Richey Rotary Club presented its Veterans Day recognition program during its meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave.
“We have done this program for several years now and have honored 220 veterans,†Paul Lembo, a long-time member of the club and the former organizer of the event, said in a press release. Lunch was complimentary to all veterans and their guests invited by Rotary club members.
Brian Anderson, a former Green Beret and three-time Bronze Star recipient from the Iraq war, was the main speaker. Anderson is president and CEO of the Veterans Alternative, in Holiday, which helps combat warriors to deal with post-traumatic stress. Hero, Anderson’s personal therapy dog, also was a special guest of honor at the luncheon.
All invited veterans received framed recognition certificates that were provided by U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Palm Harbor.
