On Saturday, May 17, Congressman Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) hosted his Annual Veterans Resource Fair, which provided important information and services for Veterans and their families in the 12^th Congressional District. “Veterans have given so much to our country, and it is only right that we give back,” Bilirakis said. “I am proud to host our 8^th Annual Veterans Resource Fair. This event will be a one stop shop for our Veterans, providing them with access to a variety of available services and resources. These services include, medical care, assistance with their disability claims or education benefits, and employment information.” Following the resource fair, the Congressman invited everyone to join him for a short patriotic program, hosted by Frank Wuco, Commander, USN, (Ret.), which also included a performance by the East Lake High School Band & Chorus. Additionally, Tech Sergeant Brad Clark of the 927th Air Medical Staging Squadron – MacDill Air Force Base, will be singing our National Anthem and God Bless America. The fair will be held at East Lake High School, at 1300 Silver Eagle Drive in Tarpon Springs.

The Wesley Chapel, Wiregrass Ranch Relay for Life was a fundraising walk to support the American Cancer Society. Relay is an 18 hour journey starting at 6:00 PM and lasts throughout the night until 12 Noon the next day. It was held at Wiregrass Ranch High School on the Football Field and Track Area in Wesley Chapel. When we walk together, we are BIGGER than cancer! In the fight against cancer, silence is the last thing we need. Your local American Cancer Society Relay For Life event is a great place to take action and make noise. The Relay For Life movement features community and campus events that offer an inspiring opportunity to honor cancer survivors, promote how individuals can reduce their cancer risk, and raise money to help end cancer. Today, with the support of thousands of volunteers, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 400 lives a day. And we won't stop until we finish the fight against cancer!

It was Habitat for Humanity’s 2014 National Women’s Build Week was a great success locally and nationally more than 13,000 volunteers across the U.S. helped build simple, decent and affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco County held a woman’s build day helping build and paint houses. It was a great day for a great organization and lots of fun for the scores of participants. Habitat for Humanity East & Central Pasco County is a non-profit Christian housing ministry working in partnership with low-income families to improve the conditions in which they live in order to o eliminate poverty housing in the Dade City, San Antonio, Zephyrhills, Land O Lakes, Lacoochee, and Wesley Chapel areas.

The Wesley Chapel Lions Club conducted a Diabetes Testing event at Wesley Chapel NISSAN. Over the course of one weekend, volunteers from the Wesley Chapel Lions Club tested 44 people and only had to give 2 referrals to see doctors. Richard Gonzmart, owner of the Columbia Restaurant Group, was the featured speaker of the Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel Noon luncheon of. Mr. Gonzmart talked about the History of Ybor City and the Columbia Restaurant. The Sunrise Shelter was presented with a check for $1,400 raised with spare change donations since December.

Friends and supporters of the Mike Moore for County Commissioner Campaign held a Fundraiser at Prime Bar Restaurant in The Shops at Wiregrass. Moore said “Thanks to all of you who came out for our fundraiser”. “The turnout was amazing and I'm humbled by your support and it was great to see so many new faces along with familiar ones” said Moore. It was announced earlier that Governor Scott has appointed Moore to the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council. “I look forward to representing Pasco County while we coordinate planning for the Region's future” said Moore.

There was a Buzz in the air, everyone was really excited about the upcoming Spelling Bee. Everyone was really excited about inviting a friend so that they can experience what Rotary is really like. And everyone was really excited about meeting all the new guests. It was a very special meeting. Over 130 men and women arrived for the Wesley Chapel Rotary Club that meets at Ciao! Italian Bistro at the Shops of Wiregrass. They meet there every Wednesday at noon. Rotarians got a chance to invite that person that they've always wanted to in order to check out the Club. Everyone was touched and guests got a good perspective of what the Wesley Chapel Rotary Club is all about.
